V. John Ella Presents National Webinar on Tortious Interference Claims

TMB shareholder V. John Ella presented a 90-minute webinar today with co-presenter Stephen D. Riden on the topic of “Tortious Interference With Contracts, Business Relations, and Economic Advantage: Proving and Defending Claims – Navigating the Complexities of Claims Alleging Intentional and Improper Business Disruption” for Strafford.  Mr. Ella and Mr. Riden discussed the various types of tortious interference claims recognized by states around the country, including tortious interference with contract, tortious interference with economic expectation, and negligent interference. They set forth the elements of each claim as established by case law and the recently published Restatement (Third) of Torts. Mr. Ella offered various types of defenses to these types of claims and explained what types of damages are available. Finally, Mr. Ella discussed how these claims are often applied in the employment law context.
