On October 2, 2013, Trepanier MacGillis Battina P.A. attorney Craig W. Trepanier spoke about motor carrier liability for trucking accidents and mitigating the risk of liability for negligence claims. Craig provided an overview of the different theories of liability recognized in Minnesota, including negligent hiring, negligent retention, negligent supervision, and negligent entrustment of a motor vehicle. Craig also discussed “best practices” for motor carriers and outlined motor carrier obligations under DOT regulations.
The conference was sponsored by the Risk Management Division of the Department of Administration along with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities. The conference took place at the Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. If you would like a copy of the handout from the presentation, please call or e-mail the Firm.
