TMB Shareholders Craig W. Trepanier and V. John Ella have written an article for the September 2017 issue of Bench and Bar, the monthly magazine published by the Minnesota State Bar Association.  The article is entitled Three Decades of DATWA and discusses recent developments and case law regarding Minnesota’s statute governing employer testing of applicants and employees for drugs and alcohol, known as the Drug and Alcohol Testing in the Workplace Act (“DATWA”).

John and Craig will also be teaming up to speak on the same topic at an upcoming Continuing Legal Education seminar for the Hennepin County Bar Association (“HCBA”) entitled “DATWA Turns 30!”  This seminar is scheduled for Friday October 3, 2017 from Noon to 1:00 pm at the HCBA offices at 600 Nicollet Mall, Suite 390, Minneapolis, MN.  Interested attorneys can register on the HCBA’s website.
V. John Ella will also be speaking on the topic “Drug and Alcohol Testing: 12 Traps for Employers” at “Tough Employment Law Questions” a CLE hosted by Minnesota Continuing Legal Education and scheduled for Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Both Craig and John have extensive experience representing employers in drug testing litigation and drafting compliant policies.
